Intake at Vida Addiction Care
At Vida Addiction Care, every treatment begins with a two-part intake or assessment process.
The first step is an intake interview with one of our psychologists, where we discuss your needs, challenges, past experiences, and your home situation. We also take your personal preferences into account as much as possible, such as receiving treatment alongside your work commitments. However, if we believe that clinical is essential but you prefer outpatient we will do our best to give you our insight.
Next, you will have a conversation with one of our lead practitioners. This could be a psychiatrist, addiction physician, licensed psychologist, or specialist nurse. During this session, we delve deeper into specific topics and explore the treatment options best suited to your situation.
Following these meetings, your treatment proposal is reviewed by our multidisciplinary team, after which a final treatment recommendation is made. Your case manager will then discuss this with you over the phone.
At Vida Addiction Care, we ensure that English-speaking professionals are available during your treatment to make communication as clearly as possible.
The intake appointment
For your intake appointment, your assessment session, you will need to bring along a valid form of identification (passport, driver’s license, or ID card), a copy of your health insurance policy, and a referral letter from your general practitioner. Please note that without these documents and a valid referral letter, the intake cannot proceed.
It’s important to take heed that if you fail to attend your appointment or cancel it less than 24 hours in advance, a €150 “no-show” fee will be charged.
Costs
Treatments costs are covered under the mandatory basic health insurance in the Netherlands, for the most past. This also depends on your medical insurance provider. The insurance companies have specific parameters to gage the necessity for “clinical” treatment. Under most circumstances “outpatient” is covered. During the initial treatment sessions, we focus on creating a personalized treatment plan. This plan includes a detailed treatment diagnosis, treatment recommendations, DSM-5 classification, and jointly formulated treatment objectives.
Family days
We also provide support for the family and close relatives of our patients, those members that are part of the system. Understanding that loved ones often have many questions, we regularly organize Family “Days” (normally 2-4 hours) in addition to the system therapy sessions that we initiate where required.

Our addiction counselors have a deep understanding of what you’re going through, as many have personally overcome addiction themselves, and are what we term in “in recovery”. They will guide you step by step to ensure you receive the best possible treatment, helping you regain your health and move forward with your life.
